HOK Sport have been appointed by Cumann Luthcleas Gael (Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA)) as fit-out architects for the third phase at the Croke Park stadium in Ireland’s capital city, Dublin. This is in addition to previous HOK involvement with master planning of the entire scheme and fit-out of Phase Two.
Croke Park forms the headquarters for the GAA and is also the home of Gaelic Sports. Phase One, completed in 1994, saw the design and construction of a replacement for the Cusack Stand. Phase Two commenced in late 1998 and involves extending the New Stand to replace the existing Canal end.
This latest £4.3 million phase comprises detailed interior design of the Hogan stand, construction of which began in 2000. As project architect Claire Bunten explains, “the fit-out will incorporate a number of first-class hospitality and VIP suites, as well as housing a continuation of the GAA’s life size ‘Team of the Millennium” presented in 30 lenticular light boxes.”
At completion – currently planned for 2002 - this stage of the project will see HOK Sport complete over a decade of successful partnership working for the GAA.
