Date: March 3rd 2006 Project: Scottsdale Stadium

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. (March 3, 2006) – Originally opened in 1991 as one of the league’s most forward thinking spring training facilities, Scottsdale Stadium embodies the strong regional western theme that is evident in its surrounding development. Designers at HOK Sport, the firm charged with the stadium’s original design, will bring the facility to modern day standards with renovations that add to the original intimacy and amenities that have made the ballpark renowned.

“Scottsdale is still the crown jewel of spring training facilities – and now it represents the next generation,” said David Bower, HOK Sport principal. “The renovations players and fans will experience this spring bring the stadium modern standards and beyond.”

Players and coaches will notice increased space and comfort with renovated locker rooms, a player dining area, a new exam room, increased storage areas and more practice fields adjacent to the stadium. The team’s training room will more than double in size to 2,200 square feet, conforming to current day spring training facility standards. Players also will have access to four new enclosed batting and pitching tunnels adjacent to a new right field bullpen.

Above the new batting and pitching tunnels will be the most visible added fan amenity – a new right field deck level. This level will include a terraced outdoor party deck which can be used for large groups. This addition also will offer fans 360 degree circulation around the ballpark. Overall capacity of the existing ballpark will be increased from 10,970 to 11,220, with the addition of 250 seats in new berm seating areas, seating terraces and the party deck area.

Fans also will have a dedicated team store, multiple ticket offices, more restroom facilities and enlarged concession areas. The field also will be jazzed up with a new, video-capable scoreboard and auxiliary scoreboards along the grandstand fascia down each baseline.

In keeping with the stadium’s original design toward environmental enhancement, the site will be infused with more greenery and trees, adding to the established feel of the ballpark. Additionally, the ballpark will be able to host even more civic events, such as weddings, parties or art festivals. With all the new player, coach and fan amenities, Scottsdale Stadium will continue to remain one of spring training’s most attended facilities.
