HOK Sport's design of Sommet Center (formerly Nashville Arena) was inspired by Nashville's passion for music. The building's exterior re-creates the exuberance and vitality of a musical performance, with a roof that has been conceived as a music box lid that has been lifted slightly to let sound escape. The transparent walls of the concourse reveal sweeping stair elements that offer a glimpse of the inner works of a performance. Catwalks and lighting grids were used at the main entry to complete the stage, encouraging spectators to become part of the performance.
