The Penang Turf Club, being relocated to the mainland and renamed the Penang International Equestrian Centre, will be a full international capacity racecourse, capable of accommodating up to 1,500 horses upon completion. It will be a multi-functional facility, catering for the full spectrum of equestrian pursuits as well as non-racing activities such as conventions and exhibitions.
The racecourse will feature 4 tracks and a new grandstand with a capacity of 7,000. The facility will also incorporate the latest in medical equipment and operating facilities to ensure the international horses receive the best veterinary treatment and training. Running independently from the racecourse, the equestrian centre will feature a covered arena and clubhouse.
