PNC Park has been designed with the urban fabric of downtown Pittsburgh and the city's many bridges in mind. Light colored limestone and masonry exemplifies a modern interpretation of Pittsburgh's monumental structures. The steel superstructure of the seating rises elegantly, repeating the arches below and recalling the more intricate bridges over the three rivers of the city.
The stadium seating bowl has been oriented toward the Golden Triangle across the Allegheny River with reduced seating in right center field to give spectators the best views across the city skyline.
