The visual context for this rural setting provides a great opportunity to develop our concept of "stadium in the park." The stadium is seen as a focal point for new developments on the site and the developed park context aims to envelop the stadium and create an active environment providing a pleasant place to be used whether there is an event on in the stadium or not.
The scheme design for a multi sports stadium on the Maze/Long Kesh site brings together a range of differing requirements in a cohesive whole. The synergy of the new stadium is expressed in the external form and the ribbons of continuity encircling the facade, symbolic of a shared future.
