Dale has a great interest in design, and extensive experience and understanding of sport architecture. Throughout his studies at the LSA at the University of Liverpool, he developed a keen interest in the planning, technology and safety of sports and entertainment buildings - the Hillsborough Disaster in 1989, at which Dale was present, was pivotal in his decision to pursue a career in this field.

Since joining HOK Sport in 1992, Dale has been heavily involved in the design and construction stadiums in both the UK and Australia. He worked on the early concept designs and planning of the new Wembley Stadium, before taking on the role of project designer for the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC), designing the redevelopment of Centre Court and new courts 2 and 3. The design of the innovative hydraulically operated roof, which evolved after a scientifically demanding process, has continued Dale’s limitless interest in cutting edge technology of sport architecture.

Dale is taking environmental sustainability to the next level by leading the HOK sport architecture team in the design and development of a theoretical project for the 'Low Carbon Stadium of the Future,' continuing his interest in building technology.
